[POSTPONED] MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying): Law, Practice and Dilemmas

In light of the COVID19 virus, the Grey Bruce Humanists are suspending their meeting schedule until the “all clear” has been given by our Government and Public Health officials.  We will not be holding our Humanist Discussion meetings at the Library at this time.  Our event with Donna Stewart discussing the Medical Assistance in Dying matters will be postponed until the fall.  Please check back in April for news of when we will resume our get-togethers.  In the meantime, stay healthy and vigilant.

Our guest, Dr. Donna Stewart is the Lillian Love Chair in Women’s Health at the University Health Network and the University of Toronto, where she is responsible for research education, policy, and health service delivery for women’s health. She is a University Professor with appointments in the Faculty of Medicine in the Departments of Psychiatry, Obstetrics/ Gynaecology, Medicine, Anaesthesia, Family and Community Medicine, and Surgery at the University of Toronto. She has 16 active research grants and has published over 200 articles in peer-review journals.

Donna should be able to help us clarify the Canadian Law, our culture’s shift in ethical perspective and the problems of fitting the practice with Humanist principles.
